HISTORY
A group of Brahmin families who had relocated from the Pamba River’s banks built the temple. Another tale connects the temple to the story of Kannaki, a mythical heroine in the Tamil epic “Silappatikaram.“
FESTIVALS
The temple is famous for its annual celebration, “Kumbha Bharani,” which draws thousands of worshipers. It is traditionally held in February or March and includes rituals, processions, and plays.
