DIETY-GODESS DURGA
HISTORY
The temple is thought to be over 1500 years old; historical records go all the way back to Kerala’s medieval age. Legends and folklore from the area claim that the temple was a major place of worship under the Kozhikode Zamorin dynasty. It is stated that Goddess Durga was worshipped at this temple by the mythical fighters known as “Aromal Chekavar” and “Unniyarcha,” figures well-known in Kerala’s martial arts traditions.
FESTIVALS
Every year, the temple conducts a festival called “Makara Chowa,” which is much anticipated and features traditional dances, music, and cultural events. Devotees and tourists from all across Kerala come for the festival.

In addition to being a site of worship, Lokanarkavu Temple serves as a hub for cultural events and the promotion of ancient art forms like Theyyam, which are performed on holidays and other important occasions.
