HISTORY
The temple is believed to have been built around the 1st century AD by Cheran Chenguttuvan, the Tamil king of ancient Chera Nadu.It is dedicated to Mangaladevi, also known as Kannagi, an iconic figure from the Tamil Epic Cilappatikaram.Mangaladevi is revered as an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.
FESTIVALS
The temple holds significant cultural and spiritual importance for both local people and devotees from neighboring regions. It is particularly revered during the annual festival known as Chithra Pournami, which typically occurs in April-May.
