DIETY-LORD KRISHNA
HISTORY
According to local legends and historical accounts, the temple was founded by the Chembakassery King. The idol of Lord Krishna worshipped here is believed to have been brought from the Karinkulam temple in Kurichi, Tamil Nadu.
FESTIVALS
The ‘Ambalapuzha Arattu’ festival is the most significant of the festivals celebrated at the Ambalapuzha temple. There are vibrant processions, traditional music performances, and cultural events at this yearly celebration.
FAMOUS AS
The temple is well-known for its “Palpayasam” prasadam (offering), which is a rice, milk, and sugar-based sweet milk porridge. It is thought that Guruvayoorappan, the Lord Krishna of Guruvayur, makes this offering to the Ambalapuzha temple every day.
