HISTORY
Lord Mahaganapathy is the temple’s presiding deity. The idol of Lord Ganesha is put here in a seated position, with four arms carrying his traditional attributes such as a broken tusk, modak (sweet delicacy), and a rosary.The temple is thought to be about 700 years old and has a rich history. The temple is supposed to have been founded by a member of Kottarakkara’s reigning dynasty, the Elayidathu Swarupam.
FESTIVALS
The Kottarakkara Sree Mahaganapathy Temple’s biggest event is Vinayaka Chaturthi, which takes place in the Hindu month of Chingam (August-September). It is celebrated with great zeal and dedication.
FAMOUS AS
The temple has typical Kerala style construction, with a gabled roof, wooden carvings, and traditional artwork.The inner sanctum of the temple, which houses the primary deity, is known as Nalambalam. It is a sacred location, and only priests and designated staff are permitted.
