Azhikulangara Temple has associated legends and myths that explain its establishment and significance. These stories often involve tales of divine interventions, the manifestation of the goddess, and miraculous events attributed to her grace.
FESTIVALS
Mudappallur vela, also known as Azhikulangara Bhagavathi vela, is held annually on May 22. The festival’s primary features are fireworks, Panchavadhyam, and Chenda melam. The festival’s myth is that Sree Sastha from Lord Shiva temple visits Bagavathy.
FAMOUS AS
Kalamezhuthu is another important ritual here. It begins in the end of Meena Masam and ends on the 8th day of Edava masam. In 2025, this is from April 12 to May 22. The Kalamezhuthu is held by “Kallattu Kuruppanmar”.
