HISTORY
One of Kozhikode’s oldest temples is Tali Temple. It was constructed by Swamy Thirumulapad the temple. The sacredness of this old temple is intimately associated with the establishment and growth of Kozhikode city. It is thought that Sri. Parasurama installed the lingam in the temple’s sanctum during the end of the Dvapara Yuga. The sanctum assumes the Umamaheswara stance. Even though this heavenly power has existed for eternity, Kozhikode’s residents didn’t start paying attention to the temple until roughly 1500 years ago. The temple thereafter achieved its pinnacle under the renowned title of Sailabdheswara, held by the Zamorin of Calicut, popularly known as Samoothiri.
FESTIVALS
Revathi Pattathanam: The temple still hosts this celebration. This cultural program takes place over seven days. It’s either in November or October. According to legend, the Zamorins instituted the celebration as retribution for slaughtering the Namboothiris. Achieving students are also rewarded.
FAMOUS AS
It is a treasure house with numerous deities and beautiful built. This is a two storied sanctum. It is in the chariot form and is decorated with mural paintings.The temple is protected by large walls on all sides, which are in the form of an elephant belly. Also, there are fine granite sculptures within the temple complex.
