Introduction
Jalaram Mandir at Virpur, is one of the scared pilgrimages of Gujarat, reflects the life and teachings of Saint Jalaram Bapa. The temple reflects divine tranquility amidst inspiration-seeking devotees coming from across the region.
History
It was established in the 19th century and is dedicated to Saint Jalaram Bapa. He was a saint who had sole devotion to Lord Rama and served humanity selflessly. Jalaram Bapa first saw the light of the world in 1799 at Virpur. He is mainly known for his miraculous performances and simplicity in nature. His whole life was dedicated to removing suffering from poor people and spreading love and compassion everywhere. It was built in honor and memory of his teachings, furthering his philanthropic work. It has grown into one of the major spiritual and communitarian centers that reflect the saint’s spirit of humility and service.
Festival
Jalaram Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Saint Jalaram Bapa, which is yearly celebrated at Jalaram Mandir, ordinarily falls in November or December. The temple is decorated with colored lamps, and special prayers, ‘Bhajans’ are arranged along with community feasts. They all come together to celebrate the life of Jalaram Bapa, to seek his blessings, and to offer acts of charity in continuation of his tradition for service and compassion.
