Introduction

Mani Mandir is the more gorgeous manifestation of Indian architecture, situated in Morbi, Gujarat. It’s considered to be a tremendous spiritual attraction because this ancient temple, which was built with great devotion to Lord Shiva, attracted a great number of visitors and pilgrims through its intricate design along with its surroundings.

History

Built in the year 1924, Mani Mandir presents skilled craftsmanship and skillful architecture by the then Maharaja of Morbi, Sir J. M. Ranjit Singh. Marble work in this temple is very intricate, while the carvings are a classy affair, basically reflecting the cultural richness of Gujarat. A mix of traditional Hindu temple architecture and modern ideas makes it one of the most distinct architectural marvels. This temple was named after the wife of the Maharaja, Rukmini Devi, whose religious devotion inspired the construction of the said temple.

Festival

The major Hindu festival celebrated at Mani Mandir is Maha Shivaratri, celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the three major deities of Hinduism. The temple looks very bright during this festival, which generally falls in the month of February or March each year. Devotees come together on this great festival day to offer prayers and perform rituals, besides participating in grand processions. The elaborate music and dance performances, along with many others, attract a really amazing atmosphere at Mani Mandir during Maha Shivaratri.
